Debra J. Dockery, FAIA

Principal / President

Debra has deep roots in South Texas being 8th generation Texas native.  She received a Master of Architecture degree from Texas A&M and has been a licensed architect since 1982.  Her experience encompasses a wide range of notable public facilities including community centers, libraries, fire stations, public safety buildings, offices and educational projects.  Debra served on the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners from 2011 to 2023 with seven of those years as chair of the board.  She has been active in the State and local chapters of the American Institute of Architects and gives back to the profession through mentoring aspiring architects.

Edgar Sanchez, Associate AIA

Associate / Project Manager

Edgar received a Master of Architecture degree from Texas A&M Prairie View and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio.  After graduation, he worked in Mexico City as a designer for renown architect, Tatiana Bilbo.  Edgar brings his design talent to Dockery Architecture projects with cultural and placemaking strategies while assuring thorough, appropriate technical documentation and team coordination.  Edgar was named 2022 Mentor of the Year for the ACE Mentoring Program San Antonio.

Jeremiah Gonzalez, AIA

Associate / Architect Project Manager

Jeremiah is a licensed architect in Texas.  He received a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M and a Master of Architecture from the University of Texas at San Antonio.  His proficiency in the profession has been enhanced by experience working for a construction company while a college student and his on-going service as a day leader for Habitat for Humanity.  Jeremiah has been with Dockery Architecture since graduation and has led the design of several notable fire stations and public office facilities.  He continues to serve as a mentor in the ACE Mentorship Program.

Esther Garza

Project Coordinator / Designer

Esther has a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Texas San Antonio and a Certificate in Historic Preservation.  While earning her degree, she was a part of the nationally recognized team recording and documenting Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West in Scottsdale, Arizona to create Historic American Buildings Survey drawings. Her experience has included producing regulatory and production drawings for three dimensional prototypes, 3-dimentional printing, and specifications for building components.

Dinah Leadford

Office Administrator

Dinah has been with Dockery Architecture since 1997.  She is the office administrator responsible for human resources, accounts receivable and accounts payable, and bookkeeping.  She assists with marketing and client development.  Dinah has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Texas A&M San Antonio.

Debra J Dockery

Owner & CEO

With over 35 years of experience, Debra J. Dockery received her Master of Architecture from Texas A&M University before opening Debra J. Dockery Architects. Debra established her firm as a sole proprietor in 1989 and incorporated it in 1990. Her impact on South Texas is profound, having designed and managed over $400 million in public facilities projects for the region, particularly through commissions from the City of San Antonio and other local agencies. Debra's work reflects a deep understanding of our area's unique cultural, political, and geographical influences, making her a sought-after speaker for civic groups, emerging design professionals, and legislators seeking insights into design issues.
