The Bexar County Parks Master Plan serves as a comprehensive roadmap for enhancing and expanding the county's park system to meet the evolving needs of its residents and visitors. With a focus on guiding decisions regarding improvements, additions, and acquisitions of park land and amenities, the plan underscores the importance of thoughtful documentation to secure funding and partnership opportunities. The plan encompassed all 11 County parks, 3 civic centers, and 24 cultural, historic and wilderness sites. Through extensive engagement with park users via surveys, which yielded over 800 responses, it became evident that Bexar County parks are highly valued and considered beneficial to the community. Key priorities expressed by respondents include the replacement of event centers, the development of hike and bike trails, provision of shaded picnic areas, installation of playgrounds, and establishment of outdoor exercise stations, as well as the acquisition of new park sites. A key component of the plan was an economic impact analysis by a respected Economist of the value of public park investment.
