Fort Sam Houston Historic Buildings

Buildings 2000 and 2007 are part of the Calvary Post Section of Fort Sam Houston National Landmark District.  The buildings, constructed in 1908, remain active spaces supporting the Department of Defense operations at Fort Sam Houston.  The buildings required exterior repairs, consideration for disabled accessibility, and internal reorganization to facilitate modern office operations. The project team deftly navigated the intricate guidelines set forth by the U.S. Department of the Interior Standards for Rehabilitation and Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings. From structural reinforcements and energy-efficient upgrades to the thoughtful design of an addition housing an elevator and accessible entry, every aspect of the renovation was a testament to the team's unwavering commitment to protecting significant historic buildings by ensuring their continued functional use.
