Driven by the City of San Antonio, SA2020 Brainpower Initiative to bolster education outcomes, the City of San Antonio undertook an ambitious project to invest in four early childhood education centers including Pre-K 4 SA East, the city's first owned facility of its kind. Faced with a daunting August 2014 opening deadline after the site was selected only in August 2013, the design and construction team adeptly navigated the challenge of delivering a 50,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility with 25 classrooms providing direct outdoor access, interactive technology-infused learning spaces, administrative offices, training rooms, and playgrounds - a program meticulously crafted to balance classroom instruction with outdoor play.
